一锅粽子

端午节快到了，今天是国殇日，看我这中美结合的节日过的。一早起来，包了一大锅肉粽子。很好吃。主要是想给朋友们吃。。。

Smart Museum of Art

芝加哥大学的Smart Museum of Art 就在家门口，天天经过。喜欢它的小巧，低矮，是日本庭院和现代场所的结合体，非常朴素，不起眼。几乎不被人注意，却非常耐看。是我的茶：

今年的花

我很少种植，没时间。这是一件闲人的事，我还是很忙的。不过每年在五月底。我会买几盆容易生长，颜色鲜艳的花，点缀我的阳台。花一年一度，人百年一生，每一年有花伴随。这是昨天买的：

昂贵的鱼饵---Saint Angel

我没事干的时候也就是逛商店，我喜欢的是买奶酪，橄榄，干果，巧克力和酒。

昨天买的是法国Saint Angel奶酪。

At just five inches square Saint Angel® is a diminutive triple-crème cheese, but its heavenly texture and flavor won’t go unnoticed. 

Saint Angel® is made in the Côtes du Rhône area of southeast France using a process called “ultrfiltration” which ensures that only the most highly-flavored components of the cow's milk are used. The addition of cream to the milk gives this soft ripened cheese a higher fat content and a decadent velvety smoothness that melts in the mouth. 

Saint Angel® has a delicate, bloomy white rind with an inoffensive hint of mushroom-like flavor that becomes richer with age. Its interior pâte is rich and luscious with the delicate taste of sweet cream. It pairs well with sparkling wines and can be served as a gourmet treat with ripe berries.

昨天我们去日本公园散步， 看见有人钓鱼，Roger 动了心，也要钓鱼。回家就开始做鱼饵，面里加黄油奶酪，居然还加了一点Saint Angel。我嘲笑他：这也太贵了，但愿钓几条大的。

结果今天早上站了1小时，两手空空，看来不是谁都喜欢Saint Angel的。

Harper Libray

我周末的时间大都是在芝加哥大学的校园里度过的。看你千边也不厌倦，大概就是这个意思。

昨天，Roger带我去了Harper Memorial Library。

William Rainey Harper (July 26, 1856 – January 10, 1906)是芝大的第一任校长，也是个神童。

Very early in his life, Harper displayed skills years ahead of other children of his age, and he was labeled a child prodigy. By the age of eight, Harper began preparing for college-level courses. At the age of ten he enrolled in Muskingum College in his native New Concord, Ohio. At the age of fourteen, he graduated from Muskingum College. In 1872, Harper enrolled in Yale University to begin his postgraduate studies, and he completed these in 1876. Harper quickly assumed a series of faculty positions, including ones at Denison University and Yale University. Throughout his academic life, Harper wrote numerous textbooks. A strong supporter of lifelong learning, Harper was also involved with the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York, and its academic programs starting in 1883.

Barbara Walters

Barbara Walters 退休了，85岁。我最佩服的就是这样的人，热爱工作，始终敬业。一个女人在男人霸占的天下，坚韧不拔的创下了一生的奇迹。我自己这些年最艰难的事情就是在男人的领域做的比男人好。男人老了，比女人真的不如，女人的生命力旺盛，你能想像她85岁了吗？其实，老比死更难。

我是在铁一号的灰楼生的。至今，还隐约的记得一些往事。奇怪，印象里最深的一件事居然就是Barbara Walters。邻居王叔叔是人大新闻系的老师，他最佩服的人是  Barbara Walters。我从他那里听到这这个名字，就一直记在心里。一直到很多年后来美国，才知道Barbara Walters何须人也。王叔叔一儿一女，女儿大我一岁，却在小学的时候，不知为什么事情自杀了。那时侯我们两家都已经搬到了红一楼，他家在甲组，我家在丙组。现在王叔叔不知怎样了。

Barbara Walters说她是为了养家糊口才拼命工作的。她父亲才华横溢，开了好几家夜总会，是个出色的舞台设计师，却因为好赌倾家荡产，姐姐有病，发育不全。她结了几次婚，领养了一个女儿。不是一个女人理想的人生，却是了不起的一生。

Barbara Walters采访时喜欢问的一个问题是：什么是你的人生哲学？

我想我的人生哲学是：不论任何时候，都不要让那些负面的情绪控制自己，而是用理智，意志和纪律主宰人生。

"I want to be remembered as having inspired other young women to go into this business and to succeed. I've said it before and I mean it: They are my legacy," she said. "I have interviews I'm extremely proud of and some of them may even be one of a kind, but the lasting impact is the women who have, I hope, followed in my footsteps."

Kirsch

我喜欢软奶酪，最喜欢的就是french cheese kirsh，还有一种核桃的，入口就化。周末我总是在走了7，8英里后，就着红酒，一块奶酪，一碟干果过一个下午。

原来Kirsch就是樱桃白兰地，难怪奶酪总是有一种很清凉的中国杏仁味道，其实是樱桃酒的味道。 

慢慢生活

我生活的节奏一直是很快的。这几年，总是对自己说，慢下来，慢下来。

星期五，休了半天假。中午回到家，难得的好天气。什么也不想做，就决定在街上漫无边际的走。。。

说是街，其实也就在海德园里。我毫无目的在53街上走着。路过星吧克，突然想起还有一张免费的咖啡卷，就进去买了杯咖啡。拿着咖啡又去了treasure island，买了青橄榄和french gourmandise cheese，和一盒夏威夷果白巧克力的饼干。

然后就去了旁边的小广场，郁金香五颜六色的开得繁花似锦，喷泉的水柱溅湿了树荫下的铁椅子，一个黑姑娘大声的讲着电话。。。我找了个地方坐下来，一口咖啡，一口饼干，一口奶酪，两个钟头过去了。。。美丽的五月的午后， 我生命中的一天。

回家做晚饭，米饭，泰国鸡，凉拌波斯黄瓜。。。
